The Business

Operating primarily in the North East of England from new, purpose built headquarters just outside Corbridge in Northumberland, JC&C has a dedicated and motivated team, many of whom have been with the company for over 20 years.

The business is proud of the reputation it has earned for the quality and value it brings to projects. This is reflected by the amount of repeat business secured from longstanding clients.

These relationships are valued and respected and JC&C constantly seeks to offer practical and cost effective solutions. This commitment has helped save clients up to 40% of project package costs in recent years.

About our Staff

The multi-skilled site staff are highly trained in order to deliver first class work and service every time.

Every project benefits from a permanent on-site foreman and weekly visits from an operations manager and engineer.

The planning of work is undertaken by the estimating and commercial teams – each three strong.They work together to take opportunities from the tender stage to fully costed and achievable projects.

A five strong engineering team then sets about implementing schemes, whilst constantly looking to add value, drive down costs and save time on the works programme.

An experienced and skilled administrative team of four ensures that all of the departments are coordinated and work together cohesively.

The company is headed up by a board of five directors, which makes policy and oversees operations.

The Future

In challenging economic times, JC&C has seen annual turnover grow from around £3 million to over £8 million, while the workforce has virtually tripled to more than 90 employees.The company is also committed to producing the construction and civils specialists of the future, by offering apprenticeships and training opportunities to young people.

Growth

Growth has broadened the scope of works that can now be carried out and has seen the business expand to become competitive in new construction disciplines. This has secured full scheme work as the main, rather than sub-contractor, on many ambitious projects.

Examples

Examples include the company’s workshops and offices at Dilston in Northumberland, the Corbridge Business Centre and the Little Tinklers Nursery at Tinklers Yard, next to Corbridge Station.

These £3.5 million schemes provided 500 square metres of commercial space for local businesses as well as creating a learning centre and play area for up to 40 children.

Other similar projects include works for The National Trust at Beningbrough, Seaton Deleval and at Wallington Hall.

Our goal

The goal is to be the groundworks specialist of choice with existing clients while securing main contractor works with new ones.
